Why should you fast?

To live free of sexual bondage, it is vital to utilize the spiritual weapons God has given us.

Fasting is one of those tools. It empties us and creates a heightened awareness of our need for fulfillment and God’s power through the Holy Spirit. It helps us experience freedom over the desires of our flesh.

Our fulfillment is found in Jesus and when we empty ourselves of food and allow ourselves to feel unfulfilled, we prepare ourselves to receive again.

 

Why fast for 40 hours?

Jesus fasted 40 days to prepare himself for his 3-year ministry. He allowed himself to be tested in the desert by abstaining from eating food.

The number 40 represents a period of testing or trial, meant to draw us closer to God.  

Fasting for 40 hours is to deliberately abstain from food so we can be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and grow closer to Him. It’s meant to be transformational and bring healing.
